We have had a very busy week this week and they have all worked very hard.
We have started to learn about addition and subtraction. The children have been thinking about how some facts they know e.g. 7 = 3 + 4 can be used to help them when adding and subtraction using three--digit numbers or multiples of ten. They have written two paragraphs of a biography about a person of their own choice. We have been really stunned by their hard work and the fantastic research that went on at home. Thank you very much for all of that! In science, we created a table to put our results in. We will discuss what we have found out next week when we think about how to write a conclusion. In PE, we have been balancing on one leg and practising not falling over while completing mini squats. In our Saints PE slot, we will be continuing to practise our throwing and catching. The children are also learning about teamwork. In RE this week, we have continued learning about the Garden of Eden and 'the Fall'. We were all curious about the fruit on the tree and wondered why Adam blamed Eve, and why Eve blamed the snake - we thought it was their own fault. In Art, we have been sketching 3D shapes by spotting 2D shapes first. We are learning how to sketch lightly and without using a ruler. We have also done some shading. In Music, we have been reading rhythms - we can clap a range of 4 beat rhythms which have crotchet, quavers and rests. In French, we have learnt Je suis Anglais!
What an exciting week! We hope you have a lovely weekend. Year 3 Team.
