Hello Everyone It has been a really busy week and the children are working very hard. It is really heartening to see how much more confident they are getting with some of the trickier Maths methods like column method in our short daily recap sessions. They are also starting to learn more about fractions and how you write fractions as a number. In English, they have been writing their own story based on a modern retelling of the King Midas myth. Quite a few parents and friends have been turned into all sorts of things from dogs to silver. We have also been investigating north and south poles on magnets. We have started our work on improving our oracy skills – speaking and listening. These skills underpin all of the learning in school. The children are beginning to speak more clearly and confidently in front of each other. For next week, Ms Ruby is doing some food tasting in RE. We are going to be planning something special for Easter and for Ms Chauhan’s goodbye. We are also going to write part of a play script and act it out. A massive thank you, as ever, for your support. We hope you have a great weekend. Miss Keen and Ms Ruby Hi Everyone
The children have been full of energy and enthusiasm this week. They have been working hard at explaining themselves clearly and taking part in class discussions. They have offered some brilliantly reasoned ideas in Science. We started investigating forces and magnets this week. On Monday, we investigated how objects move over different surfaces in school. The children also explored the effect of gravity when they rolled their vehicles or balls up and down the bank. We have also looked at magnets and tested which materials are magnetic. In English, we have started looking at the story of Grendel and learning about stories with morals. In Maths, we are learning all about fractions starting with 1/2 and 1/4. This Friday is Red Nose Day and the children are taking part in cross country racing. Next week, Ms Ruby will be in on Monday (she is in on Mondays from then on) and the children are going to be continuing to learn about magnets and children's rights as well as lots of other things. They have been amazing this week. We are very proud of them and everything they have learnt. They have also been very good friends to each other and are working hard to make sure everyone has someone to play with. Hope you have a great weekend. Miss Keen ( A massive well done to Willow Class for their fantastic return to school. We are extremely proud of their positive attitudes. We have been working hard learning about the rain forest. In Art, we made a mixed media picture of the rain forest being sure to put the correct animals in the correct layer (this is Matilda's). The children have then labelled the layers. They wrote about an animal that they were interested in that lived in the rain forest and researched information about it. They have also been finishing learning about length and perimeter. We are welcoming Ms Ruby back and she is in on Friday. We are really excited that she is back. We hope you have a great Friday and weekend. Miss Keen and Ms Ruby Hi Willow Class This is our last week of home learning. All your teachers are extremely proud of the resilience you have shown and the outstanding effort that you have put into your home learning. You have really blown us away with all your fantastic learning. We are looking forward to all being back together again on Monday. If you have any concerns or worries, please do send me a message on Class Dojo. We will be having lots of opportunities to talk if there is anything that you are worried about at school and the Worry Box will be there for you as well. There is more information about the school return on Class Dojo. We will be open at 8:45am. I really enjoyed seeing all your costumes (when Google Meet would let me!) and talking to you yesterday on World Book Day. I have seen some great toilet roll book characters (this is Tommy's Fantastic Mr Fox). You have been doing some fab measuring in Maths as well as converting measures and learning about perimeter. I'm seeing amazing number facts work in TTRS and in Number Bots. In English and Geography, I have enjoyed reading your diary entries and seeing everything you have learned about the rain forest. We will do more of this on our return. I hope you have a great last day today at home and a relaxing weekend. So looking forward to Monday. Take care Miss Keen and Ms Ruby |
