WILLOW CLASS

December 16th, 2021

Hi Everyone

Happy Christmas! It is the last week of term. Winter term is always a long one but it seems to have gone really quickly. We are extremely proud of the children and everything they have achieved this term. Not only have they done well academically but they are also becoming much more independent and confident. It has genuinely been a joy and pleasure to work with them.

This week, we have continued learning about sharing and grouping when dividing in maths. We have written poems using kennings - see below. In PSHE, we have learnt about how to stay safe online as well as completing our learning about being respectful. The children acted out how to behave respectfully and disrespectfully.  We have also enjoyed lots of Christmas singing, lunch and lots of other things!

We hope you have a fantastic Christmas break and a very happy New Year.

Hi Everyone

I can't believe this is the penultimate week of this term and that Christmas is only just around the corner. We have been working hard this week on assessments and the children have been amazing. They have all concentrated and tried really hard. They should be very proud of their effort and their progress. A big well done to the children who are all practising their times table so hard at home.

This week we finished writing our story about Earth being covered in rubbish. The children have worked really hard on all the new things we have been learning. I loved reading their stories. They have all started to use inverted commas for speech which can be really tricky. Well done to everyone.

We started our work on anti-bullying on Monday. The children have thought about what bullying is and how to stop it. They made some lovely posters to explain this. They have also written up their science experiment to find out which is the strongest and most absorbent material to wipe up spillages.

It is Odd Sock Day on Friday. I hope they have a great Friday and weekend. This week is the last week for home learning. This will come out tomorrow.

Hi Everyone
It is starting to feel a bit like Christmas.. ish.. We have started to plan and discuss writing our own story based on The Paperbag Prince. The children have been thinking about using adverbials to describe when and where something happens. We have studied what it means to be sustainable in science and this will feed into our story as we are setting it in a future where no one recycles. In maths, we have started our unit on multiplication and division. We are learning when to use the multiplication sign and when to use the addition sign.

We have written our first history essay all about the prehistoric period. The children added what they have learnt about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.

Next week, Monday is the fun run and there is a specialist singing teacher coming to do some singing with the children. It is Odd Sock Day on Friday for anti-bullying week.

Hope you have a great weekend and rest of your week.
