Here's a glimpse of what we've been up to this week: Maths - Mental Addition and Subtraction with Place Value Knowledge: In our recent math lessons, we've been diving deep into the world of numbers. We've discovered how to mentally add and subtract using our knowledge of place value. It's been a journey of understanding how numbers work and making our calculations more efficient. English - Descriptive Story about "The First Drawing" Our English classes have been brimming with creativity as we've finished studying grammar. We've now embarked on an imaginative adventure, writing descriptive stories about a captivating book called "The First Drawing." This story takes us back to the Stone Age, where we explore the birth of art through the eyes of our imaginative characters. PE - Gymnastics, Point Balances, and Jumps: In the PE class, we've been mastering the art of gymnastics. Balancing on points, executing graceful jumps, and perfecting our movements have been our focus. It's not only a fantastic physical activity but also an opportunity to improve our coordination and flexibility. Art - Cave Wall Painting Using Natural Paints and Our Hands: Our artistic talents have been unleashed in our art class as we recreated the magic of the Stone Age. We've been creating beautiful cave wall paintings using natural paints and, most excitingly, our hands. Our classroom is transforming into a cave filled with incredible, prehistoric artwork. Science - Understanding Conclusions and Investigation Writing: In our science lessons, we've been learning about the importance of drawing conclusions from experiments. We're discovering how to present our findings in a structured manner, including the key components of an investigation. It's a fascinating journey into the world of scientific inquiry. We're incredibly enthusiastic about all the subjects we're exploring this week, and we can't wait to share more of our adventures with you. Stay tuned for our next blog post as we continue to learn and grow together! Have a great holiday! Year 3 team. Welcome back to our classroom blog, where we'll take you on a journey through our exciting week of learning. This week has been packed with thrilling activities, from honing our football skills in PE to exploring a captivating new book in English, diving into place value and ordering numbers in maths, and even making beautiful music with glocks. Let's dive right in!
On Monday, the classroom welcomed an array of scarecrows, farmers, vegetables and animals as we celebrated the Harvest festival. This of course included singing about the brilliant Dingle Dangle Scarecrow! We kicked off our English lessons with the introduction of a captivating new book, 'The First Drawing' by Mordicai Gerstein. The story whisked us away to ancient times and ignited our imaginations. We can't wait to uncover the mysteries of this enchanting tale as we read together throughout the week. In Mathematics, we have further explored place value, especially ordering and counting in 50s. With colourful manipulatives and engaging activities, we tackled challenging problems and strengthened our understanding of this essential math concept. The children are challenging themselves through tackling mathematical reasoning and problem solving questions in our Dive Deeper questions. Keep up the amazing work guys! On Thursday, we laced up our sneakers and headed to the school playground for our PE session. It was all about football skills! We dribbled, passed, and even practiced some fantastic goals. Teamwork was key, and we cheered each other on as we improved our ball-handling abilities. The skills were then tested through playing an array of matches where those beautiful skills were showcased! Our music class was an absolute blast today. We explored the enchanting world of glockenspiels, creating melodious tunes that filled the room. Each note felt like a piece of a musical puzzle, and together, we composed a beautiful piece that showcased our newfound skills. Music truly has the power to unite and uplift! As the week drew to a close, we reflected on our journey of learning and growth. From our football games to our literary adventures, mathematical discoveries, and musical harmonies, it has been a week filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a thirst for knowledge. We're excited to carry this enthusiasm into the next week and continue our educational odyssey. Don’t forget to get reading!! We look forward to hearing all about your favourite books on Monday!! This will be important in shaping our new reading display in the corridor. Thank you for joining us on this wonderful journey through our classroom activities. Stay tuned for more adventures in the coming weeks as we continue to explore, learn, and grow together. Until next time! |
