Hi Everyone,

We have had a very productive week. 

In maths, we have finished the first block of multiplication looking at the 2, 5, 10, 3, 4, and 8 times tables. We will now be focusing on practising these as well as moving to looking at how we can use what we know to multiply and divide with two-digit numbers. The children have learnt how to write kennings this week. They have written about a character in the book focusing on using nouns and verbs to make a two-word phrase.  They have come up with some fantastic ones: night-howler, hand-biter, mischief-maker and many more!  Our history block is all about the Shang Dynasty and we have been learning about how they wrote on oracle bones. In science, we explored sound waves using tuning forks, salt and water! 
In RE, we have been learning about the Old Testament, and the story of Abraham and Sarah. We talked about faith and the children has some good ideas as usual. We decided that to have faith in someone, you need to build a strong relationship. In Music we have been listening to Mussorgsky's Night on a Bare Mountain - many of the class thought it was the Star Wars music (it isn't but has been used in Fantasia). We tried to express the movement and changes in the music using drawings. We really liked how dramatic the music was. Next week, we will be naming the instruments we can hear in this piece and thinking about the different sections of the orchestra.
