We have had a fantastic week and we particularly enjoyed exploring different materials with our toy cars. We are starting a new unit on addition and subtraction in maths. This will eventually lead into more formal methods of adding and subtraction like column addition and subtraction. We have looked very carefully at two paragraphs of the Matisse biography to learn the structure. We are going to use this to write our own paragraphs for a biography. In science, the children used their own experiment to practise writing a scientific method. We have been balancing in PE and practising throwing accurately. We have also continued our learning about families this week when we thought about how it feels to be in a family. This week in RE, we have been talking about Adam, Eve and the tree of knowledge. We talked about what the children would do if they were in the same situation. Would they eat the fruit, or would they follow the rules? I was really impressed with the insightful ideas the children had about rules, faith and human nature. In Art, we have been recognising and drawing simple geometric shapes found in everyday objects. We have learnt that in nature, objects are usually formed from wavy lines and that man-made objects consist of straight lines. In French, we have been writing introductions using a range of phrases learnt in the last few weeks.
What an exciting week! We hope you have a lovely weekend. Year 3 Team
"My favourite thing this week was using the cars in science. We rolled them down different surfaces to see which one was the quickest."
"My favourite thing this week was P.E. We did lots of different throwing and catching skills and lots of running too!"
