Hi everyone,
This week was brimming with educational adventures as we explored mathematics, literacy, computing, and history in depth. Here's a more detailed look at our exciting journey: Mathematics: Subtracting 1s and 10s In our mathematics classes, we delved into the realm of subtraction. We learned the art of subtracting 1s and 10s using various techniques. Our mental math skills were sharpened, and we had the opportunity to apply our knowledge with the aid of number lines and place value counters. This was a crucial step in understanding the basics of subtraction and laid a robust foundation for more complex mathematical concepts in the future. Literacy: The Cloud Tea Monkeys Our literacy journey took an exciting turn as we introduced the new book, "The Cloud Tea Monkeys." To fully immerse ourselves in the story, we embarked on a tea-tasting adventure. This not only engaged our senses but also provided inspiration for writing. We practiced crafting command sentences that detailed the art of drinking tea, exploring the nuances of prepositional language. This experience allowed us to understand the role language plays in vividly describing everyday activities. Computing: Understanding Digital Devices In our computing lessons, we delved into the inner workings of digital devices. We learned about the intricacies of the input and output processes that make these devices function seamlessly. This knowledge is essential as we continue to navigate the digital world and develop our digital literacy skills. History: Maiden Castle Playdoh Hillfort Our captivating journey through history concluded this week as we recreated the hillfort of Maiden Castle, situated in Dorset, using playdough. This hands-on project not only ignited our creativity but also deepened our understanding of the significance of hillforts during the Stone Age. It was a fantastic way to wrap up our historical exploration. In Music, we have started a new unit on Jazz. We learnt about Scott Joplin and listened to some different types of Jazz. We used the glocks to create a 3 note bossa and a 5 note swing! We even had a go at improvisation. It's been a week filled with enriching experiences and profound learning, and we're eager to see what the coming week holds. Keep up the excellent work, Year 3, and continue to approach your studies with curiosity and enthusiasm. Don't forget your spelling and reading homework! Year 3 Team Comments are closed.
