Dear Parents,
Our Year 3 students have had a week of exciting activities and engaging learning experiences. In English, we explored the beautiful picture book "How to Live Forever" by Colin Thompson. This week, we focused on crafting descriptive sentences, enriching our language with conjunctions and vivid adjectives. The aim was to paint pictures with words and evoke the imagination through detailed expressions. In PE, the focus was on netball-style passing games. Students honed their skills in passing, emphasizing movement and maintaining a ready position. It wasn't just about athleticism; it was about teamwork, strategy, and precision on the court. In RE, we learnt about how Muslims pray. We delved into the intricacies of the ritual, fostering respect and appreciation for diverse religious practices. In Maths, we explored the 8 times table. The focus was not only on mastering the multiplication but also on addressing common misconceptions. Through discussions and practical exercises, we are developing a comprehensive understanding of the 8 times table. Additionally, we revisited column addition and practiced placing numbers on an empty number line for a thorough review of key concepts. Our history lessons ventured further into the Shang Dynasty, focusing on the rulers who shaped the course of ancient China. We also explored the concept of chronology. In Science we learnt all about sound waves. To make it tangible, we created a human sound wave, allowing students to physically experience the principles of sound waves. It was a hands-on approach to understanding the science behind what we hear. In our dance sessions, we embraced interpretive movements inspired by earthquakes. The children creatively expressed the dynamics of seismic events through dance. Our outdoor learning took us to the world of plants, where students explored and identified different parts of a plant. It was a sensory experience, connecting classroom knowledge to the outdoor environment. A fantastic week, Willow class! Stay tuned for more updates next week as we continue to explore, discover, and grow together in Year 3. Have a lovely weekend! Year 3 Team Comments are closed.
