Happy Friday!
This week in Hazel Class we have had a super busy week in all subjects. In maths this week we have began our new unit on addition and subtraction looking at mental and written strategies to use with numbers with more than 4 digits. Next week we will extend this and apply these strategies in multi step word problems. In English this week we have continued looking the book 'The Children of the Benin Kingdom'. We have had several different grammar focus' including the passive voice and using dashes for parenthesis. Next week we will begin researching more about the Benin Kingdom and applying our knowledge from our history lessons so after half term we can write reports based on the kingdom. We have finished our history unit for this half term and we will be starting geography after half term looking at informal settlements around the world. This weeks focus in history was looking at how the Benin Kingdom came to end. Once again the children had a great swimming session yesterday impressing the coaches and both Mrs Moffat and I. In French this week the children have been practicing saying where they live and where they would like to live ready for a French speaking assessment next week. Keep an eye out on dojo as parents evening bookings will be out soon! I hope you all have a lovely weekend and don't get too wet. See you all next week for our last week of the half term.
