Good evening everyone, it's Friday!
This week in Hazel Class, we have been working on our narrative text The Princess' Blankets. Our focus this week have been writing our own story based on a fairy tale. I have been very impressed with the results - so well done Hazel. In Maths, we have reached the end of our unit on Statistics and have been learning how to read and interpret various graphs and charts in order to answer problems, we have also been working on our 6 times table. We have also used our wider curriculum time to investigate the heliocentric and geocentric theories on the solar system. In PSHE we have been looking at democracy this week and have had a Teams meeting with some representatives from the Houses of Parliament. We learnt all about how the Houses work and what you have to do to be an MP. This morning in P.E. the children have begun working on a challenge to compete against other schools virtually, by recording their best efforts and comparing them with other schools, we await the results... Next week, we have an extra challenge for the children. They will be participating in a cross country run on Monday afternoon (in their bubble) again times will be collated and compared to other schools. The children will complete a 1.5 mile course and will need to wear their PE kit to school on Monday. As well as their PE kit, could they wear their school shoes in and have their trainers and a spare pair of socks ready for the afternoon and their run. Well done to all of you who are reading regularly, lots of you are close to circumnavigating the globe in our Round the World Reading Challenge and are beyond Kenya already. Some people have completed the challenge, or are close to doing so. For those of you that have, I have created the Genre Genie Reading Challenge and have attached a copy and some reading lists to go with this (they are on the post dated 13.11.20) Remember, it’s spelling on Monday, so do practise, it's the third column of this half term's. Don't forget to start looking at this half term's Wider Curriculum home learning activities, I have had a few good pieces in already. Have a great weekend everyone- enjoy whatever it is you are doing. Mr F Good evening everyone, it's Friday again, already!
This week in Hazel Class, we have been working on our narrative text The Princess' Blankets. Our focus this week have been writing a story innovated from the original text. In Maths, we are coming to the end of our unit on Statistics and have been learning how to read and interpret various graphs and charts in order to answer problems. We have also used our wider curriculum time to investigate the planets, their order from the Sun and to find out a bit about each one. In PSHE we have been lookiung at Bullying this week. The children have created their own anti-bullying superhero, written in role as a bully or a victim and thought about what to do if you are being bullied. We also watched the official anti-bullying week song by Andy and the Odd Socks on Monday and have worn odd socks today to recognise that although we are all different, we can work together against bullying. (see pictures) This morning in P.E. the children have begun working on SAQ skills, Speed, Agility and Quality of movement (see the photos). Well done to all of you who are reading regularly, lots of you are close to circumnavigating the globe in our Round the World Reading Challenge and are beyond Rio De Janeiro already. This week in Hazel Class, we have been working on our narrative text The Princess' Blankets. We have enjoyed learning about fairy tales and have written some very creative pieces this week, including: imitating the text, writing our own prologue, suggesting why the Princess is so cold and writing a letter from Dr Makeyouwell to the Princess, offering her a suggestion of a cure. In Maths, we are working on our new unit Statistics and have been learning how to read and interpret various graphs and charts in order to answer problems. We have also used our wider curriculum time to investigate the planets, their order from the Sun and to find out a bit about each one. This morning in P.E. the children have begun working on SAQ skills, Speed, Agility and Quality of movement (see the photos). For those of you that have, I have created the Genre Genie Reading Challenge and have attached a copy and some reading lists to go with this.
