Happy Friday, double blog this week due to no internet last week!
We have been busy writing our biographies all about Phillipe Petit who is an amazing tight rope walker who famously walked between the Twin Towers! We have learnt lots of facts and are now experts about Phillipe. We will be publishing and editing them next week. In maths we have been working very hard and have been persevering with some tricky methods and concepts. Our focus has been on column multiplication and using them within word problems. Next week we will be moving onto division so it is important the children are practicing their timetables at home! in science the children have been focusing on magnets and have been learning how to use compasses! In hitory we have contuined looking at different medieval monarchs with this weeks monarch being Edward I, next week we will focus on Hnery VIII. Welcome back and happy new year!
We have been very busy and working hard since we have been back. In maths, we have continued exploring fractions particularly practicing our method for adding and subtracting fractions. The children have had to persevere and be very resilient throughout this week. In our English lessons we have started looking at a new text 'The Man who Walked between the Towers'. This has produced some discussions around sensitive topics which the children have been very engaged and sensible with. We practices our own balancing skills and imagined we were walking on a tightrope between two towers and what that would feel like. We have began a new topic about Medieval Monarchs in our history lessons. We have learnt about William the Conqueror and Thomas Beckett . Next week we focus on King Richard and King John. In our book club sessions we have been looking at book called 'Black and British' which focuses on black people and their lives throughout different parts of history. We will continue to have PE on a Tuesday and Friday for this half term. Spellings and Maths homework will be sent out on a Monday due in the following week. Children should also be reading at least five times a week. Look out on Dojo for a post about bikeability soon! Have lovely weekend! |
