Happy Friday everyone - we've made it to the end!
What a hectic last week, with lots packed in. Sports Day, a music concert, cooking pasta sauce, P.E. quizzes, games and memories. The children have worked incredibly hard this year and have grown in height, confidence and ability, it has been a pleasure to be part of their journey. I leave you with a few photos from this week and my best wishes for a superb summer holiday - bring on the Sun. Have a great holiday everyone - see you in September. Mr F Happy Friday!
A wet week, what happened to the Sun?! This week, we have been finishing lots of things - in Maths we completed area and perimeter, in English, we completed our story chapters, in Science, our work on Life Cycles and we have designed our own pasta sauce, which we will cook on Monday. (The children will need a container to bring the finished article home in please.) On Thursday, the children enjoyed an exciting session with local artist Ruth Smith, who taught the children about figurativism and abstractism and demonstrated this through her own art and that of other artists. The children were then challenged to devise a scene and using just 3 colours to create their palette, paint it, using acrylic paints. There were some great results (see photos) We finished the week with some P.E. (Tennis) with Mrs Edwards, some really good net and racket skills on display. Next week, the children will be having a fun session for their last one this year with Mrs Edwards. Following this, we visited Chagford Primary School, to take part in a Music Workshop, with other DMAT schools. The second part of this is in September and we look forward to attending. In terms of home learning, can I remind everybody that the expectation is that children read for at least 10 minutes at home everyday, this can be magazines, newspapers, manuals, cookery books, as well as their reading books, as it is all reading. I would also like children to spend time working on their times tables, which are vital in so many areas of the Maths curriculum, I am Remember the Wider Curriculum home learning is for the whole term, I am expecting great things in by Thursday 20th July at the latest (so if you haven't started, now's a great time to think about it.). Next week, the children will be cooking their pasta sauce, performing in a Music Concert on Wednesday, taking their books home, (so please could they have a carrier bag on Monday) and spending their last week as year 5s - next term, they will be the big fish in year 6! Have a great weekend, see you on Monday. Mr F Happy Friday everyone,
I hope you've all had a great week, we have enjoyed a busy week this week, achieving lots across the curriculum. We have worked on our English, Maths and P.E. skills as well as the performance this week, with spectacular results. Thank you to all who came and supported the show, made costumes, helped to learn lines etc - it was amazing! A quick message, to request that the slips from the Music activity letters, that came home yesterday, are returned on Monday please. This will be a great event that the children will really enjoy. We also have an artist coming in on Thursday afternoon to do a workshop with the children. She is going to use acrylic paint with them, so, could they please have an old t-shirt/shirt to wear over their school uniform just in case on spillages. Have a good weekend everyone. See you on Monday. Mr F |
