Good afternoon everybody - Happy Friday!
I can't believe we are at the end of another week already, they are flying by at the moment. This week, we have been working hard in English on our unit based on information texts - Extreme Animals, throughout the week, we have been researching a River Creature to use in our invent piece which we will turn into tha page of a class book about River Creatures, linked to our geography unit on Rivers. We have worked hard in Maths, on our unit - Fractions, this week we have focused on what a fraction is and equivalent fractions. In Science and Geography, we worked on what an electrical circuit is and what the features of a river system are. On Monday, we enjoyed another fun-filled French session with Madame Jordan, thinking about pets and how to describe the animals that we keep at home as pets and in the afternoon, several members of the class, went off to represent the school in another Cross Country run. They ran superbly and were very supportive to each other throughout their experience of running over difficult farm terrain - well done runners! (See pictures) We finished the week off with double P.E. - swimming on Thursday afternoon and today, Mrs Edwards (our Saints coach) carried out a session based on Tag Rugby, as many of our class will be attending a Tag Rugby Tournament next week. Our Friday afternoon was ended with our work on Vincent Van Gogh, the artist that we are working on during our latest art unit. Today we used Starry Night as inspiration for our own piece of artwork based on North Tawton. (See pictures) Spellings will be on Dojo (on Monday) for the groups, this week, it's the 1st column of a new sheet, a paper copy will come home on Monday. I have been impressed with how many people are reading every night, keep it up! The Wider Curriculum home learning is on the website and on Dojo and the children have had a paper copy. This will be due in by Thursday 7th April, so there are 2 weeks to create some quality pieces of home learning, I have already had some superb pieces of Van Gogh inspired artwork, some Recommended Reads, super Jewish inspired cookery and a scientific Masterclass via video on Electrical Circuits. Next week, we will have French on Monday, P.E. on Thursday (swimming) and Tag Rugby and on Friday with our Saints Southwest coach Mrs Edwards. We will continue work on our new unit Fractions in Maths and complete work on our text Extreme Animals in English, spark life into our Science unit on Electrical Circuits and explore Rivers further in Geography. This will all be between assessments, as it is Assessment Week next week. Have a great weekend, spend quality time together, get out and about and ebjoy the sunshine while it lasts. See you on Monday. Mr F Comments are closed.
