Happy Friday!
Another hot week, with a few showers - good for the plants; British Summertime is definitely here! This week in Hazel Class, we have worked hard in Maths, continuing our unit, based on Shape and angles. We have also begun the task of planning our own class Quest story, which we will write next week - between rehearsals of course! All week, we have continued to rehearse our upcoming production - Cinderella Rockerfella. The children have copies of the script if they have a speaking part. it would be greatly appreciated if you could take time to help them rehearse their lines and performance, particularly as next week, they won't be allowed to use it on stage. (Costume ideas have been attached as well). Children are welcome to bring costume pieces in, in a named carrier bag from next week, so we can really ramp up rehearsals. On Thursday, the children enjoyed an exciting session with OCRA, competing in the Quad Kids events, which included: a 75m sprint, a 600m run, a vortex throw and a standing long jump. In the afternoon rehearsals for the play took precedence and the performance levels went up another notch! This morning, we continued our DT project on Bridges, we used our Maths and Science skills to try to complete the construction of our spaghetti truss bridges. We finished the week with some P.E. (Rounders) with Mrs Edwards, some really good fielding and striking skills on display. Next week, the children will be continuing to develop their rounders skills with Mrs Edwards. In terms of home learning, can I remind everybody that the expectation is that children read for at least 10 minutes at home everyday, this can be magazines, newspapers, manuals, cookery books, as well as their reading books, as it is all reading. I would also like children to spend time working on their times tables, which are vital in so many areas of the Maths curriculum, I am Remember the Wider Curriculum home learning is for the whole term, I am expecting great things in by Thursday 20th July at the latest (so if you haven't started, now's a great time to think about it.). Next week, the children will continue with their new topics, including Life Cycles, Energy and Sustainability and Healthy Lifestyles in Life Skills (don't forget, next week's sessions are our RSE sessions, please see my powerpoint on Dojo for details). Rehearsals for Cinderella Rockerfella will take place every day, tickets for this are available in the playground after school at a very reasonable £2.00 a ticket, they are selling like hot cakes, Wednesday is sold out, but there are still plenty left for Thursday's performances, if you haven't already, come and buy yours - before it's too late! Have a great weekend, see you on Monday. Mr F Comments are closed.
