Happy Friday!
This week in Hazel Class, we have worked hard on multiplying numbers in Maths. We continued our Science topic of Electrical Circuits, thinking about what an electrical circuit is and what is included in one. In our English unit on figurative language, we have been writing our stories, which we will complete week. On Monday , in Geography, we explored what a Biome is and what the six major biomes of the Earth are. Don't forget, the payment for our upcoming trip to the Eden project is live on School Gateway now. On Tuesday, we had World Wildlife Day, when we all dressed up as animals and had a Minibeasts habitat workshop with Alex from Devon Recycling. (see photos) We finished the week with Red Nose Day, and some amazing jokes, which we shared and then our best efforts went forward to the North Tawton Comedy Club Assembly later in the day. Ours were: What do you call a Grizzly Bear with no teeth? A Gummy Bear! Why do seagulls fly over thee sea? Because if they flew over the bay, they would be baygulls! In terms of home learning, can I remind everybody that the expectation is that children read for at least 10 minutes at home everyday, this can be magazines, newspapers, manuals, cookery books, as well as their reading books, as it is all reading. I would also like children to spend time working on their times tables, which are vital in so many areas of the Maths curriculum. A new set of challenges is available on this page and on Dojo. Next week, the children will be continuing their work on Multiplication and Division in Maths, writing their invent pieces in our unit based on the use of figurative language in English, the rest of the week, will be assessment based, as we look at progress over the term. Don't forget, next week is Parents Evenings. I have had several people sign up so far but there are still lots of slots available. Parents Evenings Next week - commencing 20th March, I will be holding Parents meetings, for you to review your child's/children's progress. There is a sign-up sheet outside my room for you to book an appointment with me. Appointments will start at 3:40pm each day and will run to 6.30pm on Wednesday 22nd March and 6.00pm on Thursday 23rd March. They are scheduled for 10 minutes per child. If you can't get to school to book an appointment, please let me know via dojo/the office/or your child and we can book your appointment. If you have multiple children on one night, please leave a gap between appointments so that we can all keep to time as much as possible. If you can't come into school on one of those nights due to childcare or work commitments, I can offer you a telephone call instead. Please let me know as I would like to see as many of you as possible to discuss your child's/children’s progress and the year ahead. Sign-up sheets are outside the classroom now, please sign up. Have a great weekend, get out and have fun together. See you on Monday Mr F Comments are closed.
