Good evening everyone, I can’t believe it’s Friday again - already!
This week in Hazel Class, we have been working on our biographical text Women in Science. We have enjoyed learning about about famous female scientists and studying the style of a biography. We have also looked at the passive voice and and what a homophone is. In Maths, we have started our unit on addition and subtraction and have been looking at column subtraction, addition and exchanging. We also started Science unit on Space this week by looking at what the children already know. This morning in P.E. the children have continued their work on their racquet skills with Mr Ansell - next stop Wimbledon! (see the photos). Today we have worked on our online safety and as part of this, we explored bullying. The children looked at scenarios where bullying was taking place and decided what to do. Then they worked in pairs to devise a poster that defined bullying and what to do in a situation if you were experiencing bullying. (see the example started below) Well done to all of you who are reading regularly, lots of you have already started to circumnavigate the globe in our Round the World Reading Challenge and are beyond Rio De Janeiro already. We will also award our Top of the Rocks certificate on Monday for the person with the fastest average time. Remember, it’s spelling on Monday, so do practise. I have had a number of nice pieces of Wider Curriculum home learning in so far, including some digital pieces. Please make sure that you have at least three pieces completed and handed in by Wednesday 22nd October. I will post some book lists this weekend of good quality books for year 5/6 to help people to choose good books to read, as well as ones from different genres. Have a great weekend everyone- enjoy whatever it is you are doing. Mr F Comments are closed.
