I hope you enjoy this weeks blog.
We have had a very busy week in Hazel class. In English we have been busy publishing our biographies about Phillippe Petit. Look out for our writing display after half term. We have moved on to looking at a new text of 'The Spindle and the Sleeper' which is based on a mix of traditional fairy tales with a twist! After half term we will hopefully be writing our own fairy tales with a twist. We have been focusing on features of traditional fairy tales and looking at homophones within the text. In maths we have finished our multiplication and division unit focusing on using short multiplication and division methods. It would be great if children could continue practice these methods at home to further secure their knowledge and understanding. Next week we will be looking at multiplying and dividing fractions! In our wider curriculum we have been looking at Henry VIII and learning all about him and all his wives! The children really enjoyed learning about him and especially enjoyed the Horrible Histories song all about him! We have had a very enjoyable and fun art lesson this afternoon changing our portraits to create more funny and interesting ones! Please remind children of the home learning expectation in Year 5. Children need to be reading at home at least 5 times a week and reading records need to be in school every day. Children also need to be practicing their times tables and spellings daily at home too. Have a lovely weekend! Comments are closed.
