CongratulationsThe children have worked tirelessly to maintain the learning throughout the lockdown. I have been so impressed by how you have all engaged and have persevered even when you were all missing us. You managed to work out the technology and I have loved seeing the creative way in which you have tackled the tasks. Young ExplorersErnest Shackleton provided a recipe for Bannocks. This week as 'Young Explorers' many of the children tried this recipe out, although I am not sure Ernest and his team would have eaten it with a curry! The fact files have been wonderful! Choosing one of the many animals that survive and thrive in these extreme conditions and presenting this information in so many wonderfully creative ways – super work! In Science the children have also been experimenting with ice and seeing what happens when icy water is poured over ice cubes! Interesting results and very impressive presentations on live videos from budding science reporters! Maths this week was all about measuring and I see that your brothers and sisters have been able to help you out. World Book Day was amazing! Keep up the reading (lots more pics on the School News). Getting ready to returnYou are no doubt feeling a little anxious or a little apprehensive but I hope relieved that we are soon to return to school. The children will be continuing their hand washing routines and will be reminded at all times of the importance of hygiene. Hand sanitiser will be applied every time we enter and exit the room. We will continue to work in our safe class bubbles and will dine in the hall but suitably distanced from Oak and Beech classes.
Please do bring a pencil case which includes a good quality long HB pencil and pencil sharpener, an easer and rule. It would be helpful to have a pair of scissors and some pencil crayons too. A water bottle filled with only water (another drink for lunch time is allowed) is essential to keep hydrated. All the rooms are well ventilated and so the children will need extra layers underneath their school uniform. Arrival 8:45 Departure 3:20 Please come alone to collect and identify yourself by stepping forward when collecting. We are really looking forward to seeing the children again and will be making sure they all settle down with Mrs Doyle, Mrs Denney and of course Miss Heffer and Mrs Mathews. Thank you and have a great weekend with your family. I am sure the little siblings are really going to miss the older ones. Hopefully, you will be free to get on with your work uninterrupted.
