This week we will be practising using alliteration and rhyme to create stanza for our own poems. Reading The children are beginning to master their use of phonics in reading. By Christmas, we would normally expect to see children reading within blue band. Book bands follow this order: Pink Red Yellow Blue Green Orange Turquoise By the end of the year we would hope children were reading Orange or Turquoise. If your child is reading below Blue band be sure to read with them every night for at least 5 minutes. It will and does make all the difference! Maths We continue our work on addition and subtraction to 10. We will explore this through the use of part whole models, number sentence work and consolidation of the use of the symbols for addition, subtraction and equals. Here are some useful videos on White Rose should you wish to dive deeper! https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/week-8-number-addition-subtraction/ RE This week we will be trying to answer the question 'What do Christians believe God is like?' by exploring parables like the The Lost Son and searching for their meaning. Have a great week! Mrs Budiman Like |
