Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have worked incredibly hard this week on all areas of the curriculum. Last week saw us start a small pond in the garden which I hope we can finish in the next few weeks. I am hoping to develop this area a little more as a wildlife haven that we can use for our Science teaching in KS1. Reading In the Spring term we move up a gear and my expectations will be high. We will need everyone to read for at least 5 minutes each day at home. This will be critical to your child's progress. APPEAL! We are looking for parent helpers to read with the children in KS1. Daily reading makes a big difference and we would love to be able to reach every child through the week. If you are available to help please let me know and I will pass on the necessary documentation. Thank you for help in advance! Maths We have been working on place value to 20. During this unit children explore how the different digits within a number have different place values. They have been ordering and comparing using these ideas. Y1-HL-Autumn-Block-4-Place-value-within-20-2020.pdf (whiterosemaths.com) Science In Science we are learning about the weather and seasons. This week we observed the rather exciting weather outside and used a thermometer to check the temperature. We are also learning our Seasons in order. History In History we are learning about Explorers and Adventurers. this week we looked at the life of Bessie Coleman. Have a great weekend! Kind regards, Mrs Budiman |
