​Dear Parents and Carers,

Our star of the week last week was Emily, she has shown great spirit and motivation to learn since she started in September.

Reading
I have reviewed reading records today and would like to encourage all parents to carefully record home learning. It is our expectation that children in Year 1 read five times a week for at least five minutes. Children who do this do markedly better. Reading aids the development of writing and also helps with progression across the curriculum. This week we will be issuing a Reading Award/ certificates to those children who have done their homework.

Maths 
In Maths we are comparing numbers using language such as greater than, less than and equal to and will also be using the symbols associated with this language.
