Hello everyone,
I hope you had a restful and enjoyable Christmas break. We have plenty to catch up on! Further to the message you have received today, our learning will take place online tomorrow and Wednesday. In order to set and receive work in the simplest way, it is essential that all children are logged into their own Classdojo area (rather than the parent page.) They will then be able to access the ‘Portfolios’ area – enabling them to message us for support with the learning. We have just sent a hello message through the Portfolios area – if your child has received it, please message us back with a simple hello, photo or video message! If you have not yet accessed the student area, please follow these instructions: Student instructions: 1. Open ClassDojo app or go to website: dojo.me 2. Click "Enter Text Code", OR tap "I'm a student" 3. Enter the text code to sign in Once this is sorted, you should be able to click on the person icon to move between the parent and student pages. I understand this may be tricky, so please don’t feel pressured to have this up and running asap. Our online learning will follow the same model as last year: There will a spelling activity every day to start off the day along with half an hour of ‘Wake and Shake’ (youtube - Joe wicks or Cosmic yoga to start with unless you have better ideas!). There will be a few pages of Maths tasks, with a teaching video link to watch first. Everyday there will be a ‘flashback’ task to recap prior learning and keep general Maths skills sharp. Literacy will include a couple of tasks alongside some reading. In the afternoon, there will be a selection of lighter tasks to choose from. There’s no pressure to complete all of the work set. Please bear in mind that the Maths and Literacy follow the National Curriculum objectives for Year 2 – so it’s really important your child has a good go at both. We are available for help and differentiated learning if needed – please contact me! There are practical activities to enjoy together with your child, but they should also be able to access most of the work independently. If they are struggling, please cut back the activities and focus on the key skills. There is no necessity to print – the work will be set as a pdf which can be viewed on a mobile phone etc. Just make notes and send us photos of the work.
