Week Beginning 14th November 2022 We have had another very busy week in Beech Class! In English we wrote non-chronological reports about octopuses. We remembered to use conjunctions to extend our sentences and answered the humorous questions we had set. We then used the computer to research about an animal from a hot cot country. We were brilliant at selecting the correct facts. On Friday we converted our facts into a visual map and were able to explain these to our partner. In maths we continued our work on addition and subtraction. We were confidently able to add and subtract 10s from two digit numbers. We then learn how to use number lines to add two digit numbers that don't cross the 10s. Next week we are going to using number lines to add across the 10s barrier. This week we made Christmas pouches to sell at the Christmas fair. We practiced how sew before choosing which material we would like for our pouch. We then followed a line to sew before turning our pouches inside out. They look very Christmassy! We also have been practicing very hard for our Nativity and it is going to be a wonderful performance. On Friday we took part in activities for Children in Need. We went on a walk around the playground talking to Year 6 before sharing our favourite books. We even had our faces painted! We all really enjoyed ourselves. Week Beginning 14th November 2022
This week we have welcomed Miss Genduso into Beech class. She is completing her teacher training and we already feel very lucky to have her! She has supported the children wonderfully with their learning. In English we have been working hard writing information about octopuses. The children used a text to find information and then wrote it down under headings. We found out lots of interesting facts. Did you know that octopuses have a brain in every tentacle and three hearts? In Maths the children have been focusing on subtraction methods, using number lines, tens frames and cubes to help them take away. The children have really persevered with their learning and we are very proud of them. The children have also been looking at the countries of the UK in Geography. This week we learnt about famous human and physical features. We looked at photographs taken around the UK and listened to some bagpipe music. In PE we have been learning to do different types of jump, trying to land without wobbling! We've been really impressed with the children's attitude towards their learning and super behaviour. Well done Beech Class!
