Dear all,
It has been a very productive and positive first week back for year 2. It has been super to see the children grow in confidence and maturity over the first half of this term. This is now being reflected in the way in which they are approaching their learning in class. The children have been learning all about and using conjunctions and possessive apostrophes in English; using and applying the 5x table in mathematics; how to locate Uganda on a world map in Geography; and how to develop and improve a gymnastic sequence in PE. The children have especially enjoyed learning about how to apply expression to illustrate a character's feelings as part of their art unit of work: Drawing - Tell a story. You can find some of their work uploaded on Class Dojo for you to enjoy. Finally, thank you to all of you who have booked a time slot for the upcoming Parent Carer meetings next week. If you are still needing to book a time, please contact us and we would be happy to help. Wishing you all a very restful weekend. The year 2 team.

Hello Our final week, this half term, has been a very busy one in Year 2. In English, the children have been really enjoying their new text 'The Minpins' by Roald Dahl. This is a classic primary school text which I am sure many of you will know. The children have been working hard writing character descriptions and using the text to develop their vocabulary and words choice. Well done year 2 a super start to our new unit. In mathematics, we have been looking at multiplication and division and children have been learning about arrange of different aspects, including arrays, doubling and halving, and how to use and apply this knowledge. The are doing very well, so please keep practising their times tables over the holiday; this extra support really helps them. Also this week, alongside the other curriculum areas, we have now finished making our whole class story pop-up book (as mentioned last week); I know the children are really proud of the book! We hope you enjoy the pictures of the finished article... Finally, after our first half term, Mrs Murch and I would like to thank: the year 2 families for all their ongoing support since the start of January; the year 2 children for all their hard work and effort over the past weeks; and all the school staff for their help and guidance. We would both like to wish you all a very restful half term break, and we look forward to seeing you all after the holiday. Mrs Murch and Mr Legg |
