Hello,
A huge thank you to all of you who were able to attend Monday's meeting this week. It was lovely to see so many of you and to have chance to begin to get to know the year 2 families. We understand that the time of the meeting may have been difficult for some parents and carers, so if you were unable to attend, please do contact us here in school if you have any questions or queries. Once again, this week has been very positive with all the year 2 children working hard and doing well. We have been continuing to develop our writing skills in English and have been developing a deeper understanding of our text 'The Bear and the Piano'. We hope you enjoyed hearing the online narrated version last week! To support our mathematics work with money, we have opened a year 2 'shop' where learners can handle money (plastic coins of course) and work through various problems using these concrete apparatus, which really helps consolidate their understanding. The children have really enjoyed learning how to use charcoal as a drawing medium in art, and have started to develop their confidence to review and improve their work. There have been many super moments, but music was a real highlight of the week, as the children had their first experience of playing djembe drums as a whole class. Everyone worked together brilliantly to play different rhythms in time with each other, and they have begun to understand how these rhythms are represented in musical notation. Unfortunately due to internet issues at school we're unable to attach any pictures of this on the blog, however some were posted on Class Dojo earlier in the week for you all to see how much the children enjoyed this session. We are all looking forward to next week's djembe session already! Wishing you all a very good weekend. Mrs Murch and Mr Legg
