Hello everyone,
Year 2 have been working hard this week and there have been several highlights. In English, we have been enjoying our text 'Wolves' by Emily Gravett. The children have been learning all about the features of non-chronological reports and information texts. They have been looking at sub-headings and gathering facts about wolves. The children have also been learning how to gather and organise their information using a spider diagram. In mathematics, the children have been learning about mass and capacity. They have been learning how to read scales and apply this to different questions. This is a perfect area of mathematics to practise and apply at home. If at any point you are cooking and measuring ingredients over the weekend, please encourage your young person to join in and use and apply their learning in this real life context - it'll really help them back in school. Finally, the children have been continuing to develop their gymnastic sequence work, building up their sequence and each week learning new gymnastic elements and looking to improve their body tension and extension. This week, we have filmed the sequences, so that we are able to watch them back before the next session, so that the children can peer assess their work and look to make improvements. We therefore though you might like the chance to see some sequences so far, please remember these are not the finished article! Wishing you all a very restful weekend. The year 2 team.
