Dear North Tawton Families and Friends, There is never a dull day at North Tawton! Today we enjoyed listening to stories, in our pyjamas! This was to raise money for the Book Trust and, of course, to share our love of books with each other. It was fun to see the children and staff relaxing with books in pjs, slippers, dressing gowns and onesies! Thank you to everyone who took part. Space and Rockets Through our association with the Dartmoor Ogden Science Partnership, Ash and Hazel classes took part in a virtual ‘Space and Rockets’ workshop led by Paul from Sirius Astronomy. It was a great session during which the children learnt about the Milky Way, animals who went to space and how rockets launch. Paul showed the classes exciting demonstrations including burning a marshmallow to represent how the Soyuz capsules protect astronauts when they return to Earth. The children were able to ask lots of questions such as ‘When will humans live on Mars?’ and ‘How do I become an astronaut?’ We may have some future space explorers among us! Do look at the class blogs to see what else we have been getting up to this week.
Fruit Each week we have a delivery of fruit for our Early Years and Key Stage One children. Unfortunately, very few are eating the fruit. We have pears, apples, bananas, tomatoes and tangerines. Please encourage your chidren to eat the fruit! For the past few weeks we have been offering to all of Key stage 2 and we still have lots left over. Nursery Play Kitchen The Nursery team would be very grateful for any donations of baking trays, muffin trays, sieves, mixing bowls (not breakable) and utensils such as spoons and spatulas. Thank you!
