It's been another busy week in Ash Class this week! We were lucky enough to enjoy a Space workshop on Tuesday led by Paul at Sirius Academy. The children learnt all about how rockets work and then afterwards, we had a go at making a rocket in a film canister. We have also started a new topic in Science this week called 'Living Things and their Habitats'. So far, we've learnt the life processes 'MRS GREN' and classified vertebrates into the 5 animal groups - mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians. Next week, we will learn more about classification keys and invertebrates.
In English, we have looked more closely at some of the techniques the author of 'Cinderella of the Nile' uses including prepositional phrases, adverbials and exciting verb choices. We practised using a thesaurus to improve word choices. We have been working hard in Maths this week to consolidate our learning about money. We've added money, found change from amounts and rounded to the nearest pound. Next week, we start a new unit of work on Time. This is often an area of Maths which children can find a bit tricky so any extra practise at telling the time over the weekend would be great! Thank you. To round off the week, what an array of pyjamas and loungewear we have had in class today! It was lovely to see all the children getting into the spirit of the day and celebrating the joy of reading and the bedtime story. We listened to a great variety of stories read by members of staff and enjoyed every one. It's looking like it might be a wet weekend but have a good one nonetheless!
