Happy Friday!
Another lovely week weather wise. It was great to really get going with English, Maths and other subjects across the curriculum this week. This week, we have been working on Place Value in Maths, in English, we wrote letters using modal verbs to Fox the character in our text, The Fox and the Star. In Science, we began our work on States of Matter. On Wednesday, they enjoyed their first Music and R.E. sessions with Miss Boyce and we started a new P.E. unit based on Football with our Saints South West Coach. Finally this week, as part of our Romans topic, we have been studying and acting out the story of Romulus and Remus - the myth that explains the creation of Rome. (see photos) On Wednesday evening, some of the children visited Chagford to take part in a concert. They sang beautifully and really enjoyed it - as did the audience. In terms of home learning, can I remind everybody that the expectation is that children read for at least 10 minutes at home everyday, this can be magazines, newspapers, manuals, cookery books, as well as their reading books, as it is all reading. I would also like children to spend time working on their times tables, which are vital in so many areas of the Maths curriculum, I am Next week, the children will be having P.E. on Tuesday and Thursday, so send them in, in their P.E kits on both of these days please. We will continue our work on Place Value in Maths, The Fox and the Star in English, States of Matter in Science, Romans in History and Drawing in Art. Have a great weekend, see you on Monday.
