It's the end of another busy week in Ash Class. This week, the children have written some excellent persuasive letters to Mr Morrow (the new CEO of the DMAT) outlining changes they would like to improve the school. Ask them what they were campaigning for!
We have also had been learning about Ancient Egypt in History and yesterday had great fun learning the process of mummification. The children got to feel some of the 'organs' which I removed from the 'body' ready to make a mummy! Have a look at some of the photos. To round the week off, today we enjoyed taking part in our own Captain Tom 100 challenge to raise money for the Captain Tom Foundation which helps to combat loneliness, champions education and equality, and continues to support the NHS. As a class, we wrote 100 positive messages and collated them into one big positive wellbeing collage. I think that's about it for highlights of the week! Please do remember to message me if you'd like to book a 10 minute Google Meet on Wednesday evening. I will get back to you asap with appointment times. Welcome back everybody. I can't believe it's already the Summer term!
This week, we've started a unit on persuasive writing in English and have learnt about some different techniques used in persuasive writing including questions, talking directly to the reader and using emotive language. We continue our learning about decimals in Maths and we've revisited how to write numbers with tenths and hundredths. In the afternoons, we have enjoyed a Computing unit about editing photos. We've learnt about why photos are edited and whether this is good or not, and we've practised using online editing tools to alter pictures for different purposes. Every day, we've managed to get out for a daily dash to make the most of this beautiful sunshine! Have a great weekend. What a great last week of term we've had. A few highlights include finding out about the water cycle in Science, learning how to debate and discuss different topics in PSHE and also finishing off our own chapters for Bill's New Frock in English. Not only that, but today we managed to squeeze in an Easter egg hunt and enjoy the celebration farewell picnic for Miss Chauhan!
Happy Easter, everybody. Have a great holiday. Miss Radbourne |
