We have been really busy this week!

We have become experts on volcanoes which we have been learning about in both Geography and English lessons. We have been reading all about volcanoes and then began planning and writing our information texts. We’re thinking about what technical words to use and making sure our explanations are clear. We’re also thinking about presentation - information texts are full of interesting facts, pictures and eye-catching features such as ‘Did you know....’ sections.

In Science, we learnt all about contact forces. We learnt that contact forces only act when two objects are touching each other. We used the Newton metres to measure the size of frictional force. We changed the weight and added material to create more friction.

We continued doing some DT this week. First of all we began making signs for different rooms around the school. We created collages for Fox, Owl, Deer and Hedgehog rooms. (The whole school voted on the names and chose woodland animals.) After that we continued with our sewing practise. We used larger needles today to practise threading, knotting and running stitch.

The sun came out on Friday afternoon and we enjoyed creating Andy Goldsworthy style designs today using objects from nature.
