The children have done really well to cope with this heat. It has been beautiful but boiling!. The children have been learning a Norse myth by discussing the structure and acting it out in groups. They have also been working hard to learn the meaning of their spellings. The children have finished their learning on money and have begun to learn about time. Their challenge is to make sure that they can tell the time to the nearest minute. Next week, we will continue this. We have had another play rehearsal and started to make our street scene. We will continue with this and learn the songs next week. We designed a healthy meal in Life Skills and we began to learn about the water cycle in geography. If you look at the classroom window, you will see a water cycle that they have made. We will also be learning more about this next week.
This afternoon, we have been practising our play. The singing is sounding amazing!! A massive welcome back to everyone. It has been a fantastic week. We have really enjoyed the sunshine. The children have written some character description of Greek Gods and Goddesses and included the present perfect in their writing - not easy to do! We are amazed at how they are unfazed by each new challenge. We have started looking at money in maths and learning how to convert between pounds and pence. If you are going to a shop this weekend and you can, please show them some coins and let them see how it works. We always tend to spend on cards these days which makes this learning trickier for the children. They have been amazing at their first swimming sessions. Next week, we are carrying on with money and we will edit our character descriptions and start learning Greek myths to look at writing a Greek myth. We have also started practising the play.
In Art, we have carried on with our weaving and making stop motion animations. In Music we have been learning all about samba music! In our Friday maths lesson we are continuing with column multiplication and exploring 'Always/ Sometimes/Never statements. Have a lovely weekened! Dear Everyone,
Can't believe it is half term already! We have had a busy week. We have finished our fractions unit in maths and will be moving on to money next. In English, we have started reading The Myth Atlas which is all about myths from other cultures. We have read Greek myths to support our learning in history. In Life Skills, we carried on learning about being healthy by thinking about the role exercise plays. The children designed their own fitness trails outside and then tried out each others. In Art, we have continued learning about weaving. The children have practised some useful skills in this unit - tying knots, creating patterns by going under and over, choosing colours carefully and most importantly concentration, patience and resilience. In Music we have been singing African songs in rounds. We have also been practising an Abba song - 'Thank you for the Music'. We have been focusing on using our voices to raise the roof (without shouting). We love the message in this amazing song. Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing Thanks for all the joy they're bringing Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty What would life be? Without a song or a dance, what are we? So I say thank you for the music For giving it to me Have a lovely week off, Willow class! Year 3 team We can't believe that is another term over! There have been many highlights this term and the children have a huge amount to be proud of. We hope they have a fantastic break.
Good Afternoon,
Wow! It has been science week and what an amazing week it has been. The children had a fantastic time at Newquay Zoo learning all about how they help endangered species in the zoo. The children saw lots of different animals and enjoyed eating their lunch with the company of the scarlet macaws. This week, a vet came to talk to us all about her work and how to look after animals. The children enjoyed asking questions, practising putting on bandages and learning all about the machines vets use. We have also enjoyed writing a recount of our time at the zoo.
