The first whole week of term and it has been an action packed one! This week we have worked on storytelling and reading response in English. Rounding to the nearest 10,100 and 1000 in Maths, the Elizabethans in History and a Coronavirus Social Story in PSHE. The children have also had their first sessions with Miss C (RE and Art) and Mrs Mathews (Music). They have also had extra daily exercise and meditation and another fabulous PE session with our Saints coach Mr Ansell.
I have been monitoring the children’s reading folders and have been impressed by how many of you are reading every night, so well done ( I am aiming for this to be everyone next week). I have also received my first piece of Wider Curriculum home learning, which I will enjoy reading next week. Please can I ask that all children have a go on Times Tables Rockstars this week, they all logged on in class today, so should remember their login details. Times tables really are an invaluable piece of Maths knowledge, as it has a real impact on your understanding of so many other areas of Maths.
We will have our first spelling test next week on Monday, using the first 10 words from your child’s list. I will post the Topic web for this term, spelling words and the finalised timetable for the class here over the weekend.
I have been really pleased to see how happy and settled the children have been on returning to school and I look forward to seeing them develop as year 5s both academically and in personality and attitude.
I hope that you all have a good weekend, see you on Monday.
