It has ben a week full of creativity in Acorn class.
The children have been exploring still life painting and used a pumpkin as a prop. Along with painting Poppies we talked about how we remember things from a long time ago and also found a moment to recreate Rangoli art in celebration of Diwali, the festival of light. all this and so much more..... - Building towns and a tower of peanuts - Rolling dice, counting dots. - Building camps - Conker art and a surprise visitor on the decking Mel has a huge surprise when she discovered a toad hiding in the crate of cars, Danielle and the children rescued him. We all had a good look before setting him free to live near the pond. A letter to Toad - Dear toad, I am glad that you are my best friend. Your best friend, Frog. Karen, Mel and Lucy. Another week has flown by and lots of lovely learning has been going on.....

Karen, Mel and Lucy. Who doesn't love to splash in muddle puddles? The children wore their wellies and had fun splashing in the tuff tray full of muddy water! …Storm Agnes hasn't stopped us.
Karen brought in some conkers and acorns this week from a walk and the children have explore the tuff tray, opening the conker husks to find a conker or two. Some children used their feet to stand on the conker husks, some children found that the green husks are trickier to crack than the brown husks. We went on a walk under the oak trees and discovered some acorns with little hats on. We found apples in the orchard and used them for printing. We have spent time practising a new autumn song '5 little apples'. The children worked really hard to decorate our cosy corner and used EVERYTHING they could to make it look beautiful. Please keep an eye on Dojo for class information. Christmas card must be returned by September 26th, photo day is on Wednesday 27th, and if your child does not attend on the day and you would like a photo please bring them in at 8.00am and go straight to the school hall. This term our topic is 'Unique Me' we have been having group chats about our likes and dislikes, what we're good at and how to solve problems and investigate. It has been a really lovely start to the new school year, we have welcomed our little saplings back and are getting to know the newest Acorns.

Along with rainbow painting, face paint, sand mouse, singing, photos, playdough, stories, animal prints, trees, name writing, markmaking, dancing and yoga a little secret became a BIG surprise with the building of The Ted Hughes Outdoor Learning Centre in our forest school area. Climbing, balancing, risk taking, team building, wide open spaces, reading, writing, calm moments, growing, imagining, getting very wet, getting very sandy, Forest schooling, cooling down and being friends. And... we all made it to Friday! Calendar dates - Sports Day. Friday, 30th June (PM time to be confirmed) - Entertainingly Different, Friday, 7th July 12.30 – 1.45pm - End of term concert, 19th July (PM time to be confirmed) - Celebration of Learning, 20th July 2.15pm We will have our sports races at the start of Key stage one sports afternoon, it would be lovely to see everyone come along. If your child does not attend on the day, please bring them for some sporty fun and stay to cheer on Key stag one. Please let us know in advance if you will be coming along! We have an education entertainment company coming into Early years for an afternoon of imaginative fun. Again, if your child does not attend on the day, please bring them along at 12.30 and collect at 1.45. Let us know in advance if you will be coming along! Nursery will be opening the End of term concert with a song. Our celebration of learning gives the children and us the opportunity to show you what’s been going on throughout the year, come along and celebrate the journey our youngest learners have been on. Reminder - Sun hats, sun cream, non spill water bottles and a small heathy morning snack should all be provided please. Have a lovely weekend Karen and Lucy. |
