We’ve had a fantastic week in Willow Class! I have really enjoyed spending the full week teaching the children. Here's what we’ve been up to:
⭐ Maths Magic This week, our focus in maths has been all about telling the time! We have been working hard to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes and have taken on the challenge of telling time to the minute. We’ve explored the difference between AM and PM and learnt how to read both analogue and digital clocks. To make things even more fun, we played a Time Bingo game, where we matched times shown on analogue clocks to their digital equivalents – it got quite competitive! 📚 English Adventures In English, we began our exciting new book: Leon and the Place Between by Angela McAllister and Grahame Baker-Smith. The children made thoughtful predictions about what might happen in the story. We entered the magical world of the circus, exploring the sights, sounds, and atmosphere to help us set the scene in our writing. We also worked on using adverbial phrases and conjunctions to make our sentences more descriptive and detailed. There’s been some wonderful vocabulary flying around the classroom! 🧠 Super Science This week marked the start of our new science topic: Human Anatomy. We learned about the roles of some of our vital organs, including the heart, lungs, and brain. The children showed great maturity during a discussion about organ donation and giving blood, showing both respect and curiosity as they asked thoughtful questions about how our bodies work and how we can help others. 🎭 KS2 Play Rehearsals With the Key Stage 2 performance just around the corner, we’ve been getting into the spirit of showtime! We’ve loved singing the songs and learning the words. It’s also been a joy to watch the older children rehearse, giving us a sneak peek of the performance and inspiring us to join in with confidence and enthusiasm. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We’re proud of how hard the children are working and how enthusiastically they’re approaching new challenges. Have a lovely weekend!
