Welcome Back!
We hope you all had a lovely Easter break and managed to enjoy some of the sunshine! This week, we’ve hit the ground running by revisiting our routines and expectations. We’ve had thoughtful discussions about good manners, the importance of presentation, and living by our school motto: Ready, Respectful, Safe. It’s been great to see the children settling back in so positively. In English, we’ve been working with modal verbs such as might, could, and may to make predictions about our new text. We’ve also been focusing on handwriting and presentation – it’s been brilliant to see pupils taking pride in the way they present their work. In Maths, Year 4 have started exploring decimals, while Year 3 are investigating mass and capacity. You can support your child at home by encouraging activities such as counting coins – a great way to reinforce decimals and place value – or getting them involved in cooking, especially with recipes that involve weighing ingredients in grams. Geography & History We’ve just begun our new Geography topic on rivers, where we’ll be learning how they shape the landscapes around us. Later in the term, we’ll be revisiting the Stone Age, and we’ll finish the year with an exciting look at the Vikings. In PSHE, Miss Penny led a wonderful discussion about different types of families. The children shared lots of thoughts and personal experiences, learning that every family is unique and special in its own way. This may have prompted some questions or reflections at home, so do feel free to continue those conversations together. House Points Update A big well done to Okement for winning the house point challenge this week! There was some dismay in Willow class, as Okement won last week – but just to reassure everyone, even though there are more Okement children in Willow class, there are very few in other classes - making house numbers evenly balanced across the school. In Willow class today, what really stood out was how many house points Okement children have earned this week through reading. For every five signed reads in a pupil’s Reading Record, they receive five house points. So if your child is keen to help their house win, encourage them to pick up a book and get reading! Reminders & Notices📚 Please don’t forget to send in homework books and reading records tomorrow – we’re getting back into good routines after the Easter break. 🎒 Miss Brooking and I are also making exciting plans for our upcoming trip – watch this space for more details soon! Wishing you all a lovely weekend! Comments are closed.
