Welcome to the last blog of 2024!
We have had a busy festive week with lots of Christmassy activities, Christmas party and some end of unit descriptive writing. In English this week, we have been creating our own descriptive monologue about diving into a kelp forest or a coral reef. We have spent time choosing good descriptive devices such as personification and similes. Then we chose a paragraph to redraft and they all produced some lovely descriptive writing. In maths this week we finished our unit on converting units on Monday by focusing on converting between kilometres and miles. For the rest of the week, we have been having a go at lots of different Christmas themed maths activities. On Monday, we were lucky enough to watch the dress rehearsal of the KS1 nativity which was very good! On Wednesday, we had a farewell assembly to Mrs Ware, Miss Ruby and Mrs Budiman it was very emotional assembly, and we will miss them very much. On Thursday we took part in the whole school carol concert and sang lots of Christmas carols and of course Dominick the Donkey! We also spent time finishing our playgrounds. The children have spent many hours making these and should be very proud of themselves. See some photos below… Today we have enjoyed our Christmas party day, playing lots of games, having a go at Christmas crafts and watching Christmas chronicles. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and a happy new year! See you on Tuesday 7th January. Welcome to another blog.
We have had a very busy week filled with lots of Christmassy things! On Monday, we had a lovely trip to the theatre to see Cinderella the panto. It was filled with lots of very funny jokes and we all were laughing lots. The children were very well behaved and I was very proud of them. On Tuesday, we carried on with our English unit on the hidden forest by researching about the Kelp Forests. They also made their Christingles with Miss Penny in the afternoon. On Wednesday, we made our rocky road which is for sell at the Christmas Fair! We also enjoyed wearing our Christmas jumpers and enjoyed eating our Christmas dinner. Big thank you to Mandy and Nikki it was delicious. On Thursday, we had our Christingle service. It was a lovely service led by the children and they all spoke beautifully and clearly. Both Miss Penny and I were very impressed by the whole class. I especially enjoyed it when they walked around the church with their Christingles. We also had a fun PE lesson trying our skills for blind football which was very fun! Today we have been busy planning our own descriptive writing about diving into a Kelp Forest. We have been busy carrying on building and creating our playgrounds. I hope to see you at the Christmas Fair! Have a lovely weekend 😊 Welcome to our weekly blog!
I can’t quite believe we are already six days into December! The festivities are slowly starting! This week in English we have begun our new unit based on the book ‘The Hidden Forest’. This is all about a boy exploring the hidden underwater world. On Tuesday we incorporated art into our lesson by creating collages of our own underwater worlds. We have since written our artists blubs about our pieces. In maths, we have finished our unit on fractions by looking at how to find a fraction of an amount for example 2/7 of 35. Next week we will begin our final unit of the term – converting units. On Monday, we finished our geography unit on population by focusing on how we feed the planet and then we created our end of unit page which included everything we have learnt throughout the unit. In science this week, we focused on what global warming is and what the greenhouse effect was. We looked at what is contributing to global warming and what we can do to help stop global warming. Today we have been busy continuing to create our own miniature playgrounds. We have been using the glue guns safely to help create the apparatus for our playground. Next week there is lots coming up …
