Hello and welcome to the last blog of this half term! On Monday we began to think about our biography pages for the leavers book by reflecting on our memories on primary school. We then learnt about the Treaty of Versailles in history and debated whether Germany deserved to be blamed for the war. In the afternoon we found out our parts for the play and spent time looking through the script. Throughout the week we have continued to write our leavers book pages. In computing we have started our new unit on 3d modelling using the programme ‘Tinker CADD’. On Wednesday afternoon we enjoyed an afternoon of poetry which was great. Special well done to Miriam, Sofiia and Tawanaishe for reciting poems individually. On Thursday we continued our science unit on cells by investigating the organ systems of humans and plants. We had a lovely treat when a fruit and veg wagon visited, and we got to try lots of different fruit and veg. In the afternoon we had out first practice of Snow White. Please do keep encouraging children to be learning their lines. On Friday we were very lucky to take part in a workshop with MEd Theatre all about the War in Devon for Women which the children really enjoyed! I hope you all have a lovely half term! Welcome to our short weekly blog this week.
I am so proud of everyone this week. Every single child has worked exceptionally hard in their SATs tests and should all be so proud of themselves! In the afternoons this week we have spent lots of time outside enjoying the sun and playing with the younger children. On Thursday after they completed their last test they enjoyed ice lollies in the sun as a treat to say well done! Yesterday afternoon, the end of year play was revealed as ' Hint of Snow White' we spent time looking through the scripts and listening to some of the songs. Next week Mr Foreman and I will be casting the parts and children will find out their role very soon! Today we have enjoyed a treat day, we have started by having PE with Mr Wood followed by watching Super Mario Bros the movie and enjoying lots of snacks and sweet treats and this afternoon we have spent time outside enjoying the sun! I hope you enjoy your weekend :) Hello and welcome to our weekly blog.
This week we have been undertaking final preparations ready for our SATs next week. In English this week we have begun a new text called 'Some Places more than Others' which is all about an American girl finding out about her family roots and history. We have learnt about the main character and her desire to visit New York. In maths we have been revising previous topics and working through completed SATs papers with deliberate mistakes to work out what the answer should be and how the teacher has gone wrong. We have also been practicing answering 3 mark questions in preparation for the reading test. On Thursday afternoon, we celebrated VE day by completing different activities including designing our own commemorative coin, VE bunting and making our own paper spitfires. Today we have had a joint PE lesson with Willow class where we played a fun game of rounders and took part in some running games such as North , East, South, West. This afternoon we spent lots of time outside relaxing and enjoying time playing with our friends. I am so proud of all the hard work the children have put in, in preparation for next week and they should all be so proud of themselves. I hope you have a lovely weekend in the sun! Hello and welcome to another weeks blog.
We are now just one week away from SATs and then children should be so proud of themselves for all their hard work and dedication they have put into preparing for these assessments. I am so proud of all them. This week in English we have written our own non chronological reports about our fictional plants. They have been busy publishing them and they look great. We have also been having daily revision sessions on different parts of SPAG. In maths this week we have been revising different topics including statistics and ratio. We will continue to revise different topics next week. In our history lesson this week we focused on what life was like during WW1 and particularly what the trenches were like. In science yesterday we started our new unit on cells by investigating what classes something as a living thing. We learnt an acronym - MRS GREN to help us learn the seven characteristics of life. With Mr Wood this week the children have been focusing on their skills in Javelin! See some pics below. We have also spent a lot of time outside on the fields in the afternoons enjoying the warmth and sunshine! I hope you have a lovely weekend and the sun stays around for a little longer! ☀️ |
