Week beginning 3rd October 2022

At the beginning of the week we completed some sorting and matching activities, had our Flu Nasal vaccinations and had lots of time exploring the outdoor area and veranda provision. The children are becoming increasingly confident with their phonetic sounds and are proving to be real super stars in their PE lesson on a Monday. We are so proud of their listening skills and how they really give challenges a go.

Oak Class have had a maths focus of sorting objects, making comparisons and becoming confident with using ‘more/less’ when describing quantities. We read A Squash and a Squeeze by Julia Donaldson and re-enacted the story. We focused on comparing small quantities of large objects and large quantities of smaller objects outdoors in the woodland area. We introduced five frames to support our counting.

We have had an exciting delivery of fish for our pond this week. The children have enjoyed making observations and having conversations about them. We are looking forward to caring for our new arrivals as we continue to develop our pond. 

This week, we have sent home their first decodable phonics book. Sound out the words together and blend to make the word - ask the children to practise their Fred frog talk like in their phonics lessons if they are finding it tricky. Please read these daily with your child and ensure reading folders are in school each day. We will be changing decodable books near the beginning of the week and books for pleasure near the end.

Your child will have also come home with their Christmas card design - if you would like to order please ensure you do so by next Tuesday... it is super early but great to be organised.
