Week beginning 31st October 2022

This week the children have enjoyed learning about Guy Fawkes and bonfire night. They learned and danced to songs, created their own firework paintings, and discussed firework safety. The children enjoyed talking about their own experiences of fireworks and bonfires. As the children were so interested in bonfires, they worked together to build their own bonfire in the role-play area. There was some great co-operation and teamwork involved in the build.

In maths this week we have been representing and comparing numbers 1, 2, and 3. We have been matching numerals to quantity, learning how to form each number when writing and using playdough snakes to make the numbers.

Our phonics has really started to come to life as we are seeing children reading and writing words independently in the continuous provision. We look forward to building this confidence further as we continue our fine motor and gross motor activities. Clip boards and pens have been very popular this week as the children have pretended to take the register and record the lunches. The colourful sand and brushes were used to write letters and words using the sounds we have learned so far.

This week, Oak Class earned their first nugget treat by collecting all 25 class nuggets. Class nuggets are earned when the whole class work together to support, help and work towards positive learning choices. We learned how to vote when choosing our class nugget treat ideas. The children shared their ideas and then voted for the winning idea. The treat they voted for this time is a story and hot chocolate down in the woodland area. We look forward to enjoying this next Wednesday!
