Week beginning 26th September 2022

At the beginning of the week in Maths, we explored matching pairs and objects, discussing what the words 'same' and 'different' meant. We read the story of Owl babies and explored an Autumn tray with puppets. In PE, we practised our 'riding a bike' skills set, balancing on one leg, riding on different terrains and listening carefully to instructions. 
 
We have been comparing quantity and using the language of more and less. We have explored this indoors and out, making comparisons between groups of natural objects.
 
Outdoors this week, the children have been focusing on balance and co-ordination. There has been some great teamwork and co-operation through play. We look forward to some exciting den building next week.

The focus in Saints PE this week was throwing and catching. The children worked in pairs to develop their co-ordination and supported each other. They also learnt the game ‘Runner Beans’ which provided opportunity for listening and responding to instructions as well as learning to move their bodies in a variety of ways.

Some home learning for this week - please support your child to use their knife and fork at meal times. We have noticed that some children need a lot of assistance in the dining hall when cutting their food and are often using their hands rather than forks. Our MTAs are more than happy to help but it would be great for the children to develop their independence.
