The Oak Class have a great start to school this week. They have all settled into their classroom and have enjoyed exploring their new environment. This week, our focus has been on feelings and emotions, co-operation and independence. As you will see, the children have been rewarded with a lot of Dojo points for these behaviours!
We began with exploring the story The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas which links to the feelings boxes that the children post into each morning. We have worked hard to build vocabulary in order to talk about our feelings with each other. Now the children are in Reception, we are encouraging independence. The children have enjoyed our rolling snack café where they can independently enjoy snack and pour their own drinks. This has provided a lovely opportunity for children to talk with friends about their summer. The children explored rhyming words this week through song, stories and games. We muddled a variety of objects and worked together to sort them into rhyming pots. We enjoyed the story One Mole Digging a Hole by Julia Donaldson which supported our rhyming activities. There have been some wonderful moments of co-operation among the children. We have seen their inventive and imaginative minds hard at work as they have invited each other into their learning. We look forward to another exciting week of learning. Best wishes, Mrs MacDonald. Comments are closed.
