Well it's been another great week in Oak class. The children have been so creative and imaginative and it was wonderful to see them all decked in red for today's Red Nose Day too!
We finished our Traditional Tales Topic this week with the Three little pigs and the Billy Goats Gruff- the children even wrote their own version of the 3 little pigs together- I'll be sure to put a copy of it on Class Dojo so everyone can read it. They practised their handwriting and spelling for this and each made their own sentence about their page of the book! In maths this week, we have been learning all about Spatial Awareness and Position words- the children had a lot of fun hiding teddy in different places and then explaining where he was and making maps of the Billy Goats Gruff story to help us understand where everything was. In our Wider Curriculum learning, this week we planted some Beans to start looking at how plants change as they grow and also learned all about the life cycle of a Butterfly. The children made some lovely life cycle posters explaining how it works and today they're mixing colours to paint their own butterflies and caterpillars to add to our display. We also did some Very Hungry Caterpillar Yoga to really start to learn what it's like to be a tiny caterpillar turning into a beautiful butterfly! The children were very excited to see how the classroom had changed this morning as we had a move around to make even more places for the children to learn and explore - we're even building our own Home Corner and making all of the kitchen appliances we need ourselves! Next week, we will be starting our new Topic of Spring Time and Easter and learning all about how things change at this special time of year. In Maths we will be moving on to look at 2D shapes and spotting them in our environment. We'll be starting our Read Write Inc. Phonics groups too and starting to use our practise writing books as well. Have a lovely weekend, Miss Prince Comments are closed.
