Happy Friday!
This week has been a week of Improper fractions, talking objects and Policing! This week, we have been working on our English text The Day the Crayons Quit. We have used the text to invent our own story, based on personification, persuasion and humour. The children have written well, with some very humorous letters in their narratives. We have also been working hard on our unit on Fractions, exploring proper and improper fractions, mixed numbers and fractions greater than one. Miss Brooking has explored Music, French and we had our fifth Mini-Police session with PC Matt Young, the children will have their final session next week, when they will be out and about conducting a community speed awareness check. On Thursday, we explored our first session on Rivers as a Geography topic - thinking about the water cycle. Finally, P.E has seen us developing our Tag Rugby and Handball skills, we have worked on putting all of the skills that we have been learning into practise this week, through small team game situations. Next week, sees us completing our writing unit - The Day the Crayons Quit. We will complete our unit on Fractions in Maths, continue work on our new Geography unit and work on our Tag rugby and Handball skills in P.E. A huge thank you to all of you who were able to attend Parents Evenings on Tuesday and Wednesday - it was great to see so many of you in person and discussing your children's achievements, progress and next steps. P.E. will be on Tuesday and Friday for this half term, so please send the children in with their kits on on Tuesdays and Fridays. Finally, the children's home learning will be evolving this half term. Reading is very much forefront of our minds and it has been brilliant to see how many children read regularly at home. the children will receive 5 learning points for an entire week of non-stop reading so please ensure that you fill in those Reading Records. We now have access to the platforms Maths.co.uk and Spag.com. This week's home learning will be on these platforms, alongside the spelling and the reading. The children have their usernames and passwords for these in their Reading Records, if you have any issues around these, please contact me via Dojo to clarify. Don't forget, that next week, the children have a 4 day week, as we have a training day on the Friday. Have a great weekend everybody, try and enjoy getting out and about. See you on Monday.
