Chestnut class have looked at habitats and the environment including growing in lots of different ways this week.
We have started to look at frog life cycles this week, learning all about the 4 stages and labelling their own frog life style cycle pictures. We have enjoyed drawing club this week reading The Tiny Seed and coming up with adventures the seeds might go on, some were flown across the world by a bird, ended up growing on a desert island and some ended up in the ocean with turtles, sharks and jelly fish! In Geography, we have dived into the 5 layers of the oceans, identifying and writing key facts about each zone. The children have really been enjoying learning about the oceans and seas this half term across lots of subjects. In science, we looked at microhabitats; what they are, where we might find them and what living things we could find in each microhabitats. We then spent the afternoon in Forest school drawing and looking at the different microhabitats we have in school. Year 1 have been loving their literacy story, The Odd Egg. They have worked extremely hard this week, writing in role of the different birds in the story, creating awards for the World’s Best Egg and writing a letter of advice to Duck. They were very excited when they received a letter back from Duck thanking them for their support and advice. In Maths, Reception recapped measuring and doubles and year 1 have also recapped doubling while continuing learning about multiplication and division, sharing and making equal groups. A reminder that with warm weather, please ensure that your child brings a hat, sun cream and water bottle to school every day, with everything named.
