Greetings, Beech Class! It's been quite an exciting week filled with lots of learning. Let's dive into what we've been up to.
In English, we've been reading a lovely story called "Tadpole's Promise". It's all about promises and how things change. We've been thinking about how we change, just like tadpoles turning into frogs. Then, we got creative and planned our own stories using pictures. Our stories had two animals and three broken promises. It was fun to let our imaginations run wild! Math has been all about fractions. We've been learning how to understand fractions better by linking them to food - like when you have a piece of something and want to know how much of the whole it is. We've also been comparing fractions, which means figuring out if one piece is bigger or smaller than another. We finished the week with a quick assessment on fractions. Next week, we will be looking at time and doing some SATs revision. In Science, we've been doing a hands-on experiment. We wanted to know which materials soak up water and which ones don't. It was fascinating to see how different things act when they get wet! We took a trip back in time to Ancient Egypt during history class. With some toilet paper, we pretended to be mummies! It was a fun way to learn about what Ancient Egyptians did with their dead. In Religious Education, we talked about forgiveness using a story about a disciple named Matthew who was a tax collector. We wondered why it can be hard to forgive our friends sometimes but easier to forgive family members. We thought that was because we communicate better with our family and we're more used to having ups and downs with them. We learnt that forgiveness is central to the Christian faith and that we can all be forgiven if we are sorry. In PE, we've been getting active and enjoying the wonderful weather! We've been analysing how our bodies move when jumping and practising running and jumping over sets of mini hurdles. It's been a blast moving our bodies and having fun with our friends. In assembly, we met Frank, who showed us how he lives an active and very positive life with a significant disability. He talked to us about trying our best and being kind to each other. He taught us to celebrate our differences and accept each other for who we are. The children had some excellent questions. Beech Class, you've all been awesome this week. Keep up the great work, and let's keep exploring and learning together!
