Welcome back after the summer break and a big welcome to the new pupils and parents in Beech Class. We are settling into new routines and have started with our work across the curriculum.

Please make sure your child has the following in school EVERYDAY:-

Water Bottle

PE kit

Reading Folder

Homework book

Useful information …

PE

PE will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Therefore we believe it easier if a PE kit comes into school at the start of term (September) and stays in school before going home for a wash before half term in October. If the children get particularly wet, muddy or sweaty one day then we will send kits home, however leaving a kit in school hung on a peg should be fine for a few weeks. We will also be swimming on Thursday afternoons for the first part of the Autumn term.

In the kit please have…A plain white t shirt, a pair of black shorts/trousers, a pair of trainers, spare socks and possibly a spare jumper for colder days ahead.

PE is a vital part of our curriculum and therefore a PE kit is an absolute MUST. We will contact parents/carers if a child fails to have this in school. If you struggle to gather any part of the kit please let us know .

Home learning

All the information you require about home learning will be detailed each week on our Classdojo page.

Home learning will be stuck in the yellow homework books by the children on a Friday morning and they will have until the following Wednesday to complete any tasks. Children will be awarded dojo points for completing homework. Home learning tasks will vary and will be linked to topics where possible. They will be carefully planned to the curriculum.

Each week, there will be spellings and times tables sent home in the back of the yellow homework books. Please practise these as we will be having regular spelling and tables tests.

Reading little and often will also be an expectation as we really want to encourage reading for pleasure and not just because we have to!  Please record any reading in the reading folders  Alongside this, IXL Maths which will be an optional activity for any child who wishes to have a go.

Again, if you have any queries please do ask and we will do our very best to help.
